Frequently Asked Questions

Is a single blade better?

Yes. Multiple blades mean extra passes over your skin after the protective layer of shaving lubricant has been removed, which is what causes irritation and ingrown hairs. Our single blade design solves that problem while giving every bit as close of a shave as multi-blade alternatives.

Will it really save me money?

Yes. Since the razor handle only needs to be purchased once, and the blades cost less than $0.20 each, a daily shaver will break even within 6 months compared to disposable cartridges, and save roughly $200 each year after that.

Is it hard to use?

No. Our razors are designed with a built-in guided angle that is simple and easy for anyone to use, even on the first time shaving with it.

Is it safe?

Yes. With a blade exposure of 0.05 mm - less than half the width of a human hair - our standard razors are just as safe (or safer) than disposable cartridges.

Is it only for your face?

No, our razors work for any kind of shaving needs. Face, head, or body. If you want it shaved, we have you covered.

Does it really last for life?

Yes. All of our razors are made from solid luxury grade metals and backed by a lifetime warranty. If your Aylsworth razor ever breaks from normal use, we'll send you a replacement.

What if I don't like it?

We offer a 90 day return policy on all razors. If you don't love it, send it back for a refund. No questions asked.

How can I get more blades?

Our razors use standard double edged razor blades which can be bought anywhere. We also sell our own replacement blades.

** The Atelier razor uses special Artist Club blades which must be bought separately.

How do I care for my razor?
  • Between shaves, loosen the razor handle until the blade is no longer clamped (this will allow air in between the razor and blade to dry it properly).
  • Store in a dry place until the next use.
  • Clean occasionally with a bit of dish soap and water.

A complete work of art

"Copper colored razors are hard to find. Copper plated razors are harder to find. Pure 100% milled copper razors are almost impossible to find. Im a sucker for all things copper and safety razors. I collect both. The Apex CU was a must have for me and should be a must have for any safety razor collector. With the standard base plate and an Aylsworth blade it shaves incredibly close. The handle's knurling combined with the matte finish provides an unparalled grip."

Good razor, slightly scratchy

"I used it for about 10 shaves with a Dorco blade. It is efficient and I had no nicks or cuts. It felt a bit scratchy suggesting more exposed blade than other razors. I have about 10 other razors from many different companies. Despite all the hype about manufacturing methods, 2 of my original razors made of chrome plated base metal still give me the the best shave-one that feels very smooth and yet is efficient in removing the beard in 1-2 passes without injury. The blade brand does matter and some razors pair better with different blades. I will have to see whether this razor feels better with a different blade."

If you buy the Apex CU, you must have the stand!

"Copper colored razors are hard to find. Copper plated razors are harder to find. Pure 100% milled copper razors are almost impossible to find. Matching pure copper inkwell stands are THE unicorn in the industry! Im a sucker for all things copper and safety razors. I collect both. The Apex CU was a must have for me and should be a must have for any safety razor collector. This 100% pure copper milled razor stand is the perfect compliment to the Apex CU. Its as gorgeous as the razor itself."

Smooth and Efficient

"I’m thoroughly enjoying my APEX-CU. It’s smoother than I anticipated, and the standard plate is incredibly efficient. With just two passes—one in the direction of hair growth (WTG) and one against it (XTG)—I achieve a very close BBS shave. This razor has stopped by rotation and earned its spot as my daily driver. I’m looking forward to seeing how the patina will develop over time. Love it!"

Great build

"Gtrat buikf, decent weight. Shave well. Forgiving. More forgiving than Henson mild with persona blade. I used this razor with feather pro guard I think best is this razor with feather professional. Something in the middle. Over all great razor, would buy it again."

Very amooth and comfortable shave - efficient with no nicks or cuts or razor burn

"I've shaved with this razor a couple of times using an Astra blade. Both shaves have been very smooth and efficient and I experience no nicks or cuts at all. This one has the "+" base plate - when compared to the normal plate (I have the normal plate in both the stainless steel and copper razors), I like the "+" plate much better (and I like mild razors). I found that the "+" plate is more efficient with less buffing needed, while at the same time providing a mild soothing shave. The lighter weight of the titanium razor makes it easier to change angles when shaving around the lips and chin. The head is small and slender enough to shave under the nose and it is very easy to find the correct angle for shaving. It has a wide enough cutting zone so even if you go in with a shallower or wider angle, it will still cut your hair. I'm glad I purchased this razor, it is a keeper."

Beautiful & smooth shave

"Nice case & packaged well. Beautiful color & design with a nice weight to it. Wasn’t sure how it would shave having purchased the more aggressive angle but was pleasantly & gratefully surprised with how well & smooth of a shave it provided. It’s definitely in my top three shavers and probably # 1."

Very smooth

"Very smooth shaving experience. Comfortable in the hand and great shape to the head allowed a controllable shave."

A Wonderful Razor!!

"This comes out on top of the AC field. Smooth as silk, light and manoeuvrable as any Ti rival. The Aylsworth Atelier is a worthy companion to its DE brother, the Apex Ti. A bargain at the price!"

— Richard G. (5/5)

"A wonderful razor. I have this model in stainless steel and wanted an aluminum one because it's lighter. The Apex in SS is my favorite razor and this one is right up with it. It gave me a perfect shave the first time."
