Frequently Asked Questions

Is a single blade better?

Yes. Multiple blades mean extra passes over your skin after the protective layer of shaving lubricant has been removed, which is what causes irritation and ingrown hairs. Our single blade design solves that problem while giving every bit as close of a shave as multi-blade alternatives.

Will it really save me money?

Yes. Since the razor handle only needs to be purchased once, and the blades cost less than $0.20 each, a daily shaver will break even within 6 months compared to disposable cartridges, and save roughly $200 each year after that.

Is it hard to use?

No. Our razors are designed with a built-in guided angle that is simple and easy for anyone to use, even on the first time shaving with it.

Is it safe?

Yes. With a blade exposure of 0.05 mm - less than half the width of a human hair - our standard razors are just as safe (or safer) than disposable cartridges.

Is it only for your face?

No, our razors work for any kind of shaving needs. Face, head, or body. If you want it shaved, we have you covered.

Does it really last for life?

Yes. All of our razors are made from solid luxury grade metals and backed by a lifetime warranty. If your Aylsworth razor ever breaks from normal use, we'll send you a replacement.

What if I don't like it?

We offer a 90 day return policy on all razors. If you don't love it, send it back for a refund. No questions asked.

How can I get more blades?

Our razors use standard double edged razor blades which can be bought anywhere. We also sell our own replacement blades.

** The Atelier razor uses special Artist Club blades which must be bought separately.

How do I care for my razor?
  • Between shaves, loosen the razor handle until the blade is no longer clamped (this will allow air in between the razor and blade to dry it properly).
  • Store in a dry place until the next use.
  • Clean occasionally with a bit of dish soap and water.

Beautiful & smooth shave

"Nice case & packaged well. Beautiful color & design with a nice weight to it. Wasn’t sure how it would shave having purchased the more aggressive angle but was pleasantly & gratefully surprised with how well & smooth of a shave it provided. It’s definitely in my top three shavers and probably # 1."

Atelier satin

"This is my first ac razor and I’m am very pleased with the looks and performance. Loaded with a Feather Super this razor provides a very close and irritation free shave. Another home run from Aylsworth!!"

Sean S. (5/5)

"I much prefer single- to double-edged razors. This one is beautifully designed and engineered - provides a BBS shave with minimal sggression, effort, and discomfort. I much prefer the Feather single-edge blade to the DE blades which must be split in two - fiddly and dangerous."

Fantastic Razor

"The Apex in SS is my current favorite. It became my favorite after just one use. I bought the standard plate and it took a week's growth off with no problem. The weight is evenly distributed and the glide is very smooth. Very little blade feel. I definitely recommend this razor."

Go somewhere else

"This company is a perfect example of everything wrong with modern business. Their razor appears well-made, but you quickly find they are focused on form over function, as the razor is lightweight and feels cheap. The blades are also poor quality compared to my Astra Platinums, pulling two-day stubble instead of providing a smooth close shave. The so-called “100% satisfaction guarantee” is a pain to exercise, requiring multiple emails just to get the RMA initiated; to wit, they finally send a “prepaid” shipping label and don’t offer the ability to send stuff back on your own. But here's the catch: when you finally get your refund weeks later, you find out they charged you $27 for shipping a sub-1-pound package from NC to MI, and then slap on a restocking fee wiping out a significant chunk of the refund, in my case nearly 30%. A flat rate box would be less than $10. All style, no substance, and the only reason I kept the shave soap and aftershave was because it was opened; I would have returned them as well. If a place like Maggards doesn’t carry it, buyer beware."

Efficiency Powerhouse

"I just had my first shave with the apex pro +. What an amazing razor. Super efficient smooth shave. There's a lot of blade feel with the + plate, so I took my time and was cautious in learning this new razor. 2 passes was enough to have an very close shave. This razor definitely rivals my blackbird for efficiency, however, like the blackbird it would be even better in titanium. I see myself purchasing that one in the future."

Atelier Experience

"Approximately six months ago I ventured into the world of single edge shaving. I had purchased an aluminum SE razor that was close to the price the Atelier. This razor used double edge blades that were snapped in half. It provided a decent shave however there were some areas of the face that it would not reach due to the thickness of the razor head. Now after three months of use with the Atelier I must say that I am very impressed with the quality of the shave and the fit and finish of this razor. I am getting over 7 shaves with each artisan blade which makes it quite affordable. There has been zero irritation or weepers. I would highly recommend this razor to anyone venturing into the single edge platform."

A Very Special Razor

"Can’t say enough great things about this razor. A truly excellent shave! The weight, size, and grip are perfect and the head/guard combo make for an extremely effective angle and comfortable shaving experience. Though the blade gap is wider than some others I love to use, it’s actually more forgiving with less sting off the alum block. AND: It looks great! Very highly recommended!"

"I have a bunch of de razors,, this is probably the best i own of yet Its very smooth with very little blade feel for a plus razor 2 passes and a touch up bbs every shave Im a daily shaver ,, and this is a oerfect razor Totally happy with my purchase"

Damn Good Shave

"I shave with a lot of different razors and this one really stands out. The balance of the razor when it's on your face is effortless. Going against the grain (ATG), the Razor seems to just go on auto pilot and all you're doing is guiding it where you want it to go. Not all razor are capable of this. Well engineered for sure. I got a perfect shave with it on my first run."
